Westboro voters to decide on $33M in building projects

Town Hall, the Forbes Municipal Building and the fire station are among the oldest buildings in town, and certainly do not lack character or charm.
But what they do lack is space. And proper heating and cooling systems, electrical wiring, moisture barriers, and just about anything else that would make those spaces adequate for modern municipal government and public safety needs.
To meet those needs — as well as fixing existing building code violations at those buildings — the Municipal Building Committee and Town Manager James Malloy have proposed spending $33 million to renovate the Town Hall and Forbes Municipal Building, expand the police station, and build both a new fire station and a community recreation center.
Residents will be asked to vote on those projects during a special town meeting to be held within the annual town meeting March 17.
