Safer Internet Day 2012 'Connecting Generations'
The internet is a fantastic place but just like any place it has risks. Do you as a parent talk to your child about the difference between real and virtual online friends, understand the power of personal information, use privacy settings to protect your information and understand the phenomenon of social networking such as Facebook?
As part of Safer Internet Day 2012 (Tuesday, 7 February), West Mercia Police and the four Local Safeguarding Children's Boards across West Mercia (Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Worcestershire) is encouraging families to talk to each other more about their online activities in a bid to connect the generations and help keep children safe online.
The theme for this year's Safer Internet Day is ‘Discovering the digital world together safely' which aims to explore the challenges of parenting in an online age.
Talking to children about their online lives is one of the best things parents can do to protect them so they can enjoy the opportunities offered by the internet. However, with the pace at which technology is changing, the internet can often become a daunting and confusing place for parents.
Woman, are you safe on Social Media?
Social networking has removed the social barriers that existed between strangers. But problematic situations and troublesome situations are still possible so a smart woman should take adequate precautions. Even in today’s civilized urban world, the average woman is vulnerable to more problematic situations than her male counterpart and these situations can have much more dire consequences for her than for him. It is a good idea for a woman to be extra cautious when it comes to the social networks. This means that a woman does not have social support in any of these situations, should she find them intrusive. Let’s take a look at how a woman can be both an active and safe user of the social media. Today it is perfectly permissible for a total stranger to strike up a conversation with a woman....
What is the difference between downloading spybot on safer-networking.org vs download.com?
I would assume that download.com provides only the free version...and most company sites provide that on their website...Is there a difference between the two? Can anyone put something on download.com? If so, I'd prefer to get mine from the company's
If the name of the file you are downloading is the same on both websites, then it probably should be the same file - just two different sources. If download.com provides only the free version, the actual site would most like be the same version. And judging
