Tigers not fretting over WCHA standings, PairWise rankings
24.05.12
Maybe it’s crazy talk. Or maybe it’s a motivational ploy. Either way, Colorado College’s players claim they’re done losing sleep over the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings, and the PairWise rankings that set the NCAA Tournament aren’t a concern.
Neither paints a bright picture for the No. 15 Tigers, who have lost three of the past four games – with a home split over the weekend against Nebraska-Omaha – in killing all the momentum after their capture of the Gold Pan from Denver . They’ve been painstakingly inconsistent, and now down to four games left, they no longer have much room for error.
CC is tied for fourth place in the WCHA with Nebraska-Omaha and No. 14 North Dakota – seven points behind No. 7 Minnesota, five points behind No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth and three points in back of No. 10 Denver, with a three-point cushion for home ice for a first-round WCHA playoff series. The Tigers stand 19th in the PairWise , as the top 15 teams, assuming no upsets in the conference tournaments, qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
