Tennis Pros Bring Students Together
A few weeks ago, McCardle brought his Friday junior league players in the 8-and-under and 10-and-under categories to Auburndale for friendly match play.
Saltman included players from his weekday afternoons.
It was a positive attempt to get the kids excited about tennis.
Before that, the two programs were just playing others from their own programs.
"It was kind of a drag," McCardle said of amiable match. "They don't do enough of that."
The two programs meet again March 30 and plan to play each other once a month.
"We don't have any junior team tennis now, and the older ones are busy playing high school tennis," McCardle said. "We're doing this instead of playing Junior Team Tennis in the summer only."
McCardle says the two programs each have some 15-20 players who compete in the two divisions of QuickStart.
