February 6 Kicks Off Severe Weather Awareness Week

Barrow County Emergency Services (BCES) is joining the Georgia Emergency Management Agency(GEMA) and the National Weather Service in observing February 6-10, as Severe Weather Awareness Week.
“Encouraging our citizens and families to become aware of emergency preparedness and response procedures for all types of severe weather events is the goal of the observance,” said Penny Clack, Emergency Management Coordinator for Barrow County Emergency Services. “We want the citizens to be aware of potential severe weather and help their families be prepared for the effects of this weather.”
BCES recommends citizens talk each day about different types of severe weather and ways they can prepare themselves, their families, their property and even their businesses for these types of emergency. BCESrecommends the following schedule.
February 6 - Family Preparedness/NOAA Weather Radio Day
February 7 - Thunderstorm Safety
