Mountain Lion: Bridging the Gap Between Mac and iPad
23.05.12

Apple yesterday unveiled details of OS X Mountain Lion , or 10.8, saying the operating system was "Inspired by iPad. Re-imagined for Mac." (I guess someone in Cupertino was listening to Microsoft spiel about " Reimagining Windows .") I haven't yet been able to use it myself, but it appears to be a nice incremental update that brings a lot of the features of Apple's iOS (used on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch) to OS X for the Mac.
These features include a new Messages application, which incorporates what used to be iChat; Reminders and Notes applications, which look like their iOS equivalents; Game Center; and a transition from iCal to Calendar and Address Book to Contacts. In general, all of these items look much more like iOS.
It even includes a Notification Center (again, like the one on iOS) that shows you things such as new emails, calendar items, instant message, and calendar alerts.
