MSI GT780R-012US

Life for laptop-bound gamers just keeps getting better. Getting great gaming performance in a desktop PC has always been easy: Just fork over the cash and swap in a video card. But you no longer have to pay top dollar for good gaming performance in a notebook.
That’s thanks in large part to MSI and similar companies, who continue to deliver solid, attractive gaming rigs for relatively palatable prices. The subject of this review is one of them: With the MSI GT780R-012US, you get plenty of graphics muscle and some nice features at a price that falls well below average for its class. Gamers will love the backlit keyboard, robust audio, and sharp high-definition display. Overall, it's a superior-value package for the price, with a couple of caveats that you may or may not care about much. (The screen is screaming out for a Blu-ray drive to accompany it; that said, you can get a version of this machine for $150 more that has one. And we’d have liked to see a bigger boost in horsepower from the laptop's so-called Turbo Drive Engine.)
