IGG Investigates Bbumba, Makubuya
The acting Inspector General of Government (IGG) has opened fresh investigations against former ministers Syda Bbumba and Khiddu Makubuya with a view to prosecuting them.
"We have received the Auditor General's report and that of the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and we are studying them," Mr Raphael Baku said yesterday.
The lawmakers on PAC in their report tabled before Parliament last week recommended that all those implicated in the businessman Hassan Basajjabalaba's inflated compensation award must be held responsible and that the IGG and CID must take over the investigations and make further recommendations.
"We are doing our investigations with a view to ascertaining whether there is any criminal liability against them after which we shall move to prosecute them," the IGG said.
Ethics and Integrity minister Simon Lokodo on Friday said Prof. Makubuya (General Duties), also former Attorney General, and Ms Bbumba (Gender), also former Finance minister, have been placed on file for further investigations.
