Elemental LED, A San Francisco Bay Area based LED lighting company, will host an open house for On the Green Road on March 3, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees at this public event will have the opportunity to tour a 2003 Airstream, which has been retrofitted inside and out with sustainable components, fixtures and appliances. The event will take place outside Elemental LED headquarters at 1195 Park Ave in Emeryville, CA.
Some of the retrofitted items inside the RV include earth plaster walls and ceiling, a compostable toilet, cork floors, and LED lighting. The LED lights were donated by Elemental LED and include dimmable LED strip light , puck lights, color-changing RGB strip lights, and light bars.
The LED lights on the green RV are powered by two solar panels installed on the roof, and the panels' battery can be monitored to track the Airstream's energy use. In addition, the RV is hauled by a 2006 Dodge Ram, which is fueled with waste vegetable oil.
