VR tours and 3D imaging?

I want to start taking 3D images and VR tours. I have Nikon D50 and have been advised to use a Sigma 8mm F4 EX fisheye lens with Easypano.com software, would you agree? Also whats the difference between circular fisheye and diagonal?
