Halton Stadium go Batty to take Wilcox Shield
19.05.12
In the semi-finals the Main Top went a game down as Bowles gave the Stadium the lead. Kyle Yeomans replied to give the Main Top a chance, but it was not to be as Joe Batty quickly denied the Main Top a place in the final.
The second semi saw the Widnes Bowling Club pitched against the Mill Brow, and it was the Brow’s Alan Sutton who struck first blood to take the lead. Tommy Robertson levelled for the Bowler but Robbie Gorst clinched the pivotal game and a place in the final.
In the final, all three games were taken down to the slenderest of margins. Bowles held on to take the first in 21 darts, for the Stadium whilst Gorst levelled for the Mill Brow in 18.
With all resting on the final game, a 180 by Alan Sutton was not quite enough as Joe Batty edged him out to give the Stadium, the third leg, the match and the Jack Wilcox Shield.
