Sarah Palin Nominated For Worst Actress Razzie For Playing 'Herself'
The list for the 32nd annual Golden Raspberry Awards (the Razzies) nominations was announced Feb. 25, the day before the Oscars. Among the nominations for Worst actress was non-quitting, half-term Alaska governor Sarah Palin. The role she couldn't manage? Playing herself.
Some might find it politically embarrassing. Others could see it as a simple political statement by a small Hollywood organization with a good PR engine. And still others might find Sarah Palin's nomination for Worst Actress by the Golden Raspberry Awards Foundation as most appropriate, given that the more one sees her captured on film, the more it appears that she is attempting to portray a real person -- and failing. Regardless, the accent-altering former Alaska governor finds herself in the company of two men cross-dressing as women (Adam Sandler and Martin Lawrence), previous Worst Actress winner Sarah Jessica Parker (last year for "Sex and the City 2"), and a young actress at the crossroads of humanity and vampirism (Kirsten Stewart).
